About the Fresh Rx Program 

The Fresh Rx program in partnership with the of the City of Houston’s Get Moving Houston Farmer’s Markets was implemented in June 2019 for families enrolled in the Children’s Wellness Program. The Fresh Rx program is a prescription program to increase access to affordable fresh produce and combat diet-related diseases in pediatric populations. Program participants receive a $25 voucher per family member/month to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables. Since the implementation of Fresh Rx, El Centro has enrolled 57 families.
